Always Wear a PFD
Michigan law requires a Coast Guard approved personal flotation device (PFD) for each person on a paddleboard. We carry a variety of comfortable PFDs designed specifically for paddleboarding.
Use a Leash
Always use a leash to keep your board attached to you. If you fall off, the board can quickly drift away in wind or current. We recommend coiled leashes for flatwater paddling on Torch Lake.
Check Weather Conditions
Always check weather forecasts before heading out. Wind can make paddling difficult and create choppy conditions. Stop by our store for current Torch Lake conditions and forecasts.
Be Visible
Wear bright clothing and consider a small flag or light to make yourself visible to boaters. Torch Lake can get busy during summer months, so visibility is essential for safety.
